We recently got our first look at the 2019 calendar for the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship. As last year, it features 24 races across 8 circuits, with the season starting in March and finishing in October. But there’s been a few key changes from last year’s calendar, so let’s take a look at them.
The biggest change is the addition of Pembrey to the calendar in place of Rockingham. Pembrey is a circuit I know absolutely nothing about, so that’ll be a steep learning curve! Other important changes concern Donington and Silverstone, which both switch circuit layouts in 2019. Donington will feature the GP loop in 2019, whilst the exciting International circuit at Silverstone will be used instead of the National layout. Personally, I’m really looking forward to these changes!
There have been a couple of tweaks to the schedule too, with Snetterton and Oulton Park moved to the summer and Silverstone closing the season. What’s quite surprising is the timing of the season though, with 7 of the 8 rounds having been completed by mid-August, leaving a long wait for the final round and an even longer post-season break.
There’s a lot to be excited about with this new calendar and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in! Avalon Motorsport will be on the grid at Brands Hatch in March, and we’re hoping to see as many of you there as possible!
